Unison TV Advert

Hopefully some of you vigilant members will have seen this on TV.

Unison TV Advert

As part of an integrated, strategic, researched approach to recruitment in UNISON, press adverts and a television advert will be launched over the coming weeks.

The TV advert (below) will air on a range of cable and terrestrial stations under the title “Essential cover before you get to work”. It tells the story of the support and benefits a prospective UNISON member can receive before they even get to work.

The advertising campaign supports and enhances the organising and member representation work that goes on every day in UNISON branches and workplaces.

Stike Action Pension Payback

Fife Council are currently writing out to all Fife Council members to notify them that they can now pay back their pension contribution to that which was lost on the last Industrial Action day dating back November 2011.

Women’s Group Meeting

The next Unison Women members meeting is on 23rd April at Fife House 7-9pm.

Colin Paterson  from the branch is coming along to talk about our work pensions and he will have surgery at the back of it if anyone has specific things they need to know.

Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)

The Government has introduced Auto Enrolment (AE) legislation to encourage people of the UK who are not saving enough for their retirement to do so.   Auto enrolment rules slightly differ from the current LGPS, however Fife Council must comply with these rules.

On commencement of employment most employees are issued with a LGPS pension pack.  The pension pack previously contained a ‘membership and non-membership form’.   With the introduction of AE Fife Council is no longer permitted to include the ‘non-membership form’.   However any employee who wishes to opt out of the LGPS can access an ‘opt-out’ form on FISH or at www.fifedirect.org.uk/LGPS and by selecting ‘Forms and Publications’.  Alternatively you can contact the Pensions Team on 01592 583200, Option 6.
